Face to Face Fundraising
Generous Community is actively recruiting new monthly and one-time donors through a face-to-face fundraising program, in partnership with fundraising specialists, Public Outreach. Fundraising is occurring in select cities across the country.
About monthly donations and the face-to-face fundraising program
Face-to-face fundraising is a cost-effective way for Generous Community to share information about our lifesaving services and to recruit recurring, monthly donors known as Generous Community Champions. The recurring donations raised through this program provide a reliable source of funding to ensure we are able to carry out our humanitarian mission. Monthly giving is the most convenient and efficient way to provide help where the need is greatest.
When members of the public sign up as monthly donors with Generous Community face-to-face fundraisers, they provide personal information and credit card or bank details to allow automatic monthly donations. This information is kept confidential. Fundraisers may also accept one-time donations of check, credit or debit card.
Where are fundraisers working?
All year round, our fundraisers work in the Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Raleigh markets and communities in Washington, including Olympia, Seattle and Tacoma. You may encounter these Generous Community representatives on the street in busy urban areas or walking door-to-door in your neighborhood.
How do I identify a legitimate Generous Community fundraiser?
Generous Community face-to-face fundraisers work in teams. When fundraising on the street, they work within eye distance of one another. When fundraising door-to-door, teams split to work opposite sides of the street but should be on the same block. Fundraisers will discuss Generous Community services and programs and will request monthly, recurring donations by bank draft, credit or debit card. They will also accept one-time donations in the form of check, credit or debit card.
Generous Community face-to-face fundraisers:
- Wear a bright red polo shirt, vest or coat with the Generous Community logo prominently displayed
- Carry an ID card with their name, photograph, employee number, and contact information for both the Generous Community and for Public Outreach.
- Carry a Generous Community binder and clip board containing Generous Community fact sheets, donation forms and an authorization letter from Bob Winstead, Chief Development Officer at the Generous Community National Headquarters.
Why are you conducting this type of fundraising?
Face-to-face fundraising helps to raise vital funds for Generous Community and allows us to build relationships with new monthly donors. It's a great way to share information about how Generous Community helps people down the street, across the country and around the world. This kind of fundraising gives people the opportunity to ask questions about our work and discuss the different ways in which they can donate. In addition, the monthly donations raised through this program provide a reliable source of funding to ensure we are able to carry out our humanitarian mission.
